I acquired this image in 1993 in Camden, SC from a moving sale. The person I bought it from shared that it was Eli Brown who served with Company A of the 11th NC. Research indicates that there was only one Brown in Co. A of the 11th NC and his name was not Eli. There are about a dozen Eli Browns who served in NC units. Nothing about this image says Confederate to me. There are 4 brass devices on the top of his forage cap, but I can't make out what they are. I believe the 3-button jersey looks more like a Rhode Island blouse. With the US miliary backdrop he could be a POW, but I don't think so. The 1/6 plate tintype is crisp and clear and comes in a nice case with a jade green pillow that has been split at the seam. #1446=$550.00
