Although the photographer is not known, the backdrop has been researched to come out of Beaufort, SC. Most I.D.'d images date to the Spring of 1862 with a disproportionate number depicting members of the 100th PA "Roundheads" and the 79th New York "Highlanders" infantries. Extensive research has been done by Adam Ochs Fleicher and was published in the September 202 issue of "Military Images" magazine. This infantry corporal stands next to a hastily tinted American flag in front of said backdrop with his musket and bayonet. This is an unidentified 1/6 plate tintype. It is clear and well-focused and comes in a leatherette case. This image is published in my book "Civil War Hard Image" Volume 4 - Union. #13342=$550.00
