This older soldier could use a bit of a shave and some hair gel to get rid of his hat head in this 1/6 plate unidentified tintype. He's seen some service as can be seen in the rip in his 4-button sack coat at the elbow. His musket is at the ready and he has a Model 1849 Pocket Colt tucked into his belt along with a bayonet. The focus is so sharp that you can see the stitching on his cartridge box with the naked eye. Interestingly, this is posed much closer to the camera than most images and he is posed to not be looking at the camera lens. This tintype is published in my book "Civil War Hard Images Volume 4". The image comes in a thermoplastic case that is in very good condition and is a desirable "Constitution and the Laws" case. #12705=$875.00
