The soldier in this 1/6 plate ruby ambrotype wears a jersey that is tucked in at the waist and a kepi or forage cap with some type of device on the crown that is just out of view. He wears a belt buckle that is more civilian in design. He holds a W.W. Marston 4th type pocket revolver in .31 caliber. Only about 2,000 units of this version of the Marston were produced. The image is so clear so that you can see the reflection of the skylight in his eyes when examined under a loop. There is no I.D. The image comes in a full leatherette case that has its original binding and is in very nice condition. This is published in my book "Civil War Hard Images Volume 2. #11442=$875.00
