This 1/6 plate clear ambrotype is of a baby-faced lieutenant wearing a 9-button frock coat, officer of the day sash, bummer cap with gilded infantry horn, eagle belt plate and chest strap. He holds an 1850-foot officer's sword. The question, in this unidentified image is who added the whiskers and why did they do it. The image is clear with some haloing around the margin. This image is published in my book "Civil War Hard Images" Volume 4 - Union. The image comes in a patriotic leatherette case that has been repaired at the seam. #11049=$375.00
