I can't say for sure that this is a Confederate, but he sure feels Southern to me with no trim on the cuff and a bow tie this is an early war soldier. In addition to the sword, he has a pistol tucked into his belt that has a rectangular plate that has some gilding on it. The image is a 1/6 plate tintype. The tin is perfectly flat with no bends. As is shown in the scan it is dark. I've enhanced the lightness on the scan with no mat to help with details, but the main image is a good representation. The image comes in a 1/2 leatherette case. The sword could be a College Hill Arsenal sword that was produced early in the war in Nashville, TN. The blade looks a bit more broad than normal. #10612=$1,150.00
