I've had this image in my collection for 5 years and had never bothered to take the oval mat off. As you can see, I lucked into a great
image. This is a 1/6 plate ruby ambro. Is that a buck's tail on the top of his kepi? This image suffers from a couple of swipes and is
not crisply focused as can be accurately seen in the scan. The Yankee wears a 4 button sack coat, cartridge box, belt & gilded US
plate (can't see the US). He has a musket and a bayonet that can be seen at his waist. I've replaced the oval mat with a matt that allows us
to see the buck's tail in his kepi. This image comes in a 1/2 wooden and paper mache case. #5529=$375.00
