This is a very unusual 1/6 plate tintype photograph. I've had a couple of these with the very dark background. This is accentuated by the dark, early
war, uniform of this New York soldier. The soldier wears an SNY buckle, a cross belt with an eagle cross belt plate and a kepi with a device of some
type on it. I can't quite make out what the device is, but it looks like a shield of some type. The gilding on the buttons precludes an identif
and additional writing on the reverse of the engraving. It looks like the last name is "Brink", but I'm not completely sure. Someone with a
better eye than mine might be able to I.D. this New York Soldier. #9576=$335.00
