Identified as "Wm Ivins, Father of Martha Ivins Kirkwood & Gd Father of Wm H & Geo Ivins Kirkwood. This 1/6 plate tintype shows a soldier in an unbuttoned
shell jacket or frock coat with a Tam O'Shanter. The Tam has a checkered pattern and a tassel or plume as well. The soldier sports a coarse woven shirt under
the jacket and a gilded NCO belt plate. Through research, I was able to find a William Ivins who had a daughter in 1865 named Martha from Philadelphia, PA.
The William I found was born in 1820. This tintype shows some scratch as can be seen in the scan and comes in a nearly perfect leatherette case with the
original binding intact. The I.D. was folded in the back of the image. #5103=$495.00
