A note left behind the image identifies this 1st Sgt as Henry C. Umholtz. He enlisted on 8/9/1862 as a private
and was promoted to corporal on 12/31/1862. He served with the 126th PA Infantry. This unit did not see a ton
of action, but when they saw it, they were in the thick of it. They fought at Fredericksburg and had 84 casualties.
In May of 1863 they were heavily engaged at Chancellorsville and suffered 80 casualties.
