This is a rare find indeed. A 1/6 plate tintype of a seated confederate. His musket is mysteriously standing next to his right elbow apparently unsupported. He has a foot officer's sword in its scabbard on his left hip and a pistol tucked under his belt. Of interest, the belt plate appears to be larger than a federal plate; like an eggshell CSA plate, but I can't see anything on the plate. I also can't make out anything on the breast plate because of the gilding. His corporal's chevrons and inverted and dark. His coat has buttons that appear to be offset. The officer of the day sash is under his belt and was likely tinted red originally. All of most of these could easily be props, but they make for a great photo. The image comes in an odd leatherette case that has velvet (blue) in the back of the image and on the pillow as opposed to felt. #11469=$3,200.00
