The Union soldier in this 1/6 plate tintype sports his musket with bayonet, a Sheffield knife and a pistol that looks to be an 1849 pocket colt tucked under his belt. His trousers are tinted blue and he wears a 4 button sack coat. He has a gilded number or company letter on the face of his kepi, but I can't make it out. The US belt plate is gilded, but you can still see the "US" in reverse on it. His hands and face are quite tanned. He stands in a studio with a column and drapery. There is no identification. The image comes in a full leatherette case with its original binding. #10611=$550.00
